Support our High Street Traders to Re-Open

We the undersigned petition the council to We are petitioning Tewkesbury Council to urgently consider pedestrianising the High Street in Tewkesbury and other local shopping destinations on a temporary basis, up to and including Christmas 2020 in order to allow shoppers to visit our town safely, maintain social distancing and help our local traders make up some of the revenue they have lost due to the Covid19 crisis. The plan announced so far https://tinyurl.com/y8ygohge does not do enough to help. In particular we request: - Local retailers, coffee shops, publicans and restaurant owners be allowed to make use of space on the high street, in order to maintain customer volumes and allow for social distancing requirements. - To relocate the existing market onto the high street - increasing footfall for all traders on market days and to free up parking in the council car parks. - To offer free parking in all town centre car parks to support shoppers returning to our town centre.

With Retailers opening up from the 15th and the current plan for town centres only talking about safety the council urgently need to bring forward more plans to help local traders stay profitable. More needs to be done and communities need to be consulted. Please act with all speed and haste.
