Neighbourhood CCTV

We the undersigned petition the council to There has been an increase in the number of burglaries over the past few months, to the point where we are hearing daily reports of new incidents. It appears that the Longford, Longlevens area has been a target for the past few months. There have been reports of 20 cars being broken into in a single night using the wireless key relays. Cars have also been stolen using this method. Numerous vans have been broken into with the tools being stolen. This is especially damaging for people that run their own business. Garages have been broken into and there has even been doorbell cam footage of somebody trying the front door of a house in the middle of the night. The estate we live on is Whittington Park / Horsbere Mews. We require help in the monitoring / prevention of further crimes in the local area. There are only x2 entrances to the site via car or foot, as well as a single footpath in between. The request is to add CCTV to monitor these entrances/exits.

We are open to any further suggestions in addition to the cameras. The CCTV would need to identify car registration plates in the dark.
The cameras will hopefully act as a deterrent and should a crime occur after they are installed, they will hopefully aid local law enforcement to catch the people responsible.
The police do patrol occasionally, however this never seems to be around the early hours when the majority of crimes happen, although a van was broken into @ 10pm last night.
The area is full of young families with children and is an upcoming friendly community.
